Thank you for having me as your president for another year, I feel privileged to represent GFWDHS. As you noticed our logo is now including ADHA. Texas Dental Hygienist’s Association has signed a charter agreement with ADHA and our logo is to be the same. All constituents will have the state name and the components will have the ADHA, State and the component names.

Our first after many years of combined students and dental hygienists session in February was a huge success and we are looking forward to our next meeting January 27-29 2017. If you are interested in attending as a delegate, please reach out to your trustee Heidi Weber.

Please feel free to contact me if you need any assistance Cindie Pierce, RDH

My Name is Heidi Weber and I am your new Trustee and was installed back in January. This is a two-year position and I am excited to serve as your information liaison. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I will try to find you an answer or help guide you in the right direction.

The last few months, as we’ve wound down the fiscal year we have still remained active in the community. In May we had our combined installation party and TCC graduation party, welcoming in new members to our Hygiene Society. On June 17th we had a Sealant day at Mission Arlington, and on July 9th we had a GFWDHS Board meeting where we discussed the upcoming year and all the great CE’s we will be planning for you all.

I am excited for the upcoming year and for the opportunity to assist in advancing our profession.

Legislative Awareness Day will be held Thursday, February 23, 2017. The meeting will be held at the Capitol. The fee will be $25 and will be one day. Registration forms will be coming. Mark your calendar very important day.

As the student liaison, my goal is to promote a learning environment for students. One way this is achieved is by connecting students with graduate dental hygienist mentors (with one or more years of experience); this aids in transitioning students to the "real world". I am excited to start this year as the strongest year yet! - Grace H., RDH, SCADHA Liaison 972-834-0100

Welcome Dental Hygienists:
I would like to say, “Thank you” for electing me to be your next Greater Ft. Worth Dental Hygienists’ President. I have been an active member of your local component for the past 7 years. I have enjoyed being able to get to know the dental hygienists that make up the Greater Ft. Worth Dental Hygiene component as I have served in several positions during these years. Just a little about me, I have been a dental hygienist for the past 21 years, I graduated from Tarrant County College and began my journey traveling around the state. I moved from Ft. Worth to McAllen to Austin then back to Ft. Worth. I have been married to my best friend, Tim, for 26 years and we have one daughter, Kaitlyn who is a sophomore at Oklahoma State University. In my spare time I enjoy teaching Sunday school at my church, reading, I also love to sew and cross stitch.

I would like to introduce some new members on the GFWDHS board, the other board members and I are excited about them and we are hoping you will be also. As you attend the meetings and come across one of the board members let them how proud you are of them. New members on the board are, Jordan Wright, is a recent graduate from TCC, is your vice president, Heidi Weber, is your new Social Media person, Grace Hambrick, is your new SCADHA Liaison. Maggie Abt, a recent graduate from TCC, is your Hospitality assistant. Kristy Kerl, is your new membership chair. We are excited about these wonderful ladies stepping up to help our society run smoother. I would like to ask you to think about helping our society by, helping on a committee, being a delegate at our Annual Session or in any small way that you can.

Next, we are making some changes in registering for our 4 hour Continuing Education (CE) Classes. Registration will be handled online and payment will be completed thru PayPal. This is being started to help ease the time and last minute confusion on the registration committee. This will enable our registration team to be updated on the number of attendees, answer questions and hopefully have an easier sign in time on CE day. This being the first year we plan on continuing to mail out the CE flyer. In the future, we will be sending out information by emailing it , placing it on the website, and/or mailing postcards, with information that registration has opened. You will then be able to go to the website and register. We hope you are going to like the changes.

We will be updating all contact information at the meetings so we can have current contact information. This information will be shared with TDHA as they are also trying to maintain all current data. Please be ready to update your information at the upcoming monthly meetings and at all CE courses.

We are also in the midst of giving the GFWDHS website a new look, Heidi Weber and I have been working with Jeff Potts in the process. We are trying to make it easier to use and navigate thru. The website should be up soon and I will place notice on Facebook that the website is ready so you can go and look at it.

One last thing I would like to ask you to go to our Greater Ft. Worth Dental Hygienist Society Facebook page and like us. By doing this you will be notified with any notifications that are placed on Facebook. Heidi will be using this page to keep you abreast on events happening thru ADHA, TDHA or GFWDHS.

Thank you, I would like for you to always feel free to contact me if you have any praises, comments, or concerns about the society.
